I’m Aren Deu, a UK property investor and personal finance creator. I created The Anxious Investor to make money, property and investing easier to understand without pretending any of it is risk-free.
My interest in money started long before social media. I began working at 15 and spent roughly 10 years saving for my first home. Since then, I have spent more than a decade involved in property, including buy-to-let investing, renovations and larger development projects. I also studied Construction Project Management, which gave me a useful understanding of what happens behind the glossy property listings: planning, labour, materials, finance and risk.
Why I created The Anxious Investor
Most financial content falls into one of two camps. It is either unnecessarily complicated or suspiciously easy. Real life sits somewhere in the middle.
The Anxious Investor covers UK property, mortgages, tax, saving, investing and the financial decisions that affect ordinary households. I use current data and primary sources wherever possible, but I also add the practical context that numbers alone often miss.
I am not interested in selling a fantasy where every property goes up, every investment works and wealth arrives after one motivational quote. The purpose of this website is to explain what is happening, what the numbers actually mean and where the risks may be hiding.
Before The Anxious Investor
Before creating The Anxious Investor, I hosted the Find Your Voice podcast. The conversations focused on mindset, personal development and the experiences that shape how people live and make decisions.
That work still influences how I approach financial content today. Money is rarely just a spreadsheet problem. Confidence, fear, upbringing and previous mistakes affect what people save, borrow and invest. My aim is to combine the numbers with that human reality without replacing evidence with motivational fluff.
My work at Bricks & Bytes
Alongside The Anxious Investor, I am Head of Content and Brand at Bricks & Bytes, an intelligence and media platform covering construction technology, artificial intelligence, property and the businesses changing the built environment.
